Homeless Veterans Outreach Program visits homeless shelters and treatment centers to identify homeless veterans and to offer services and housing options.
Veterans House at 180 First Street provides a sober, supportive, transitional housing program for 28 veterans and serves as the point-of-entry into our housing and services for homeless vets.
Senior Veterans Outreach Program assists 90 senior veterans a year in accessing services from the VA and other community providers in order to remain living independently in their homes.
Conners Home at 29 Walter Street in North Albany provides 12 units of permanent supportive housing for veterans with a disability.

Shelter Plus Care (S + C) provides up to 31 Section 8 housing vouchers for veteran participants, including chronically homeless and dually diagnosed veterans and their families.
Peer Leadership Academy trains veterans to act as mentors for vets as risk, including VetTrak participants.
Veterans Community Advocacy Program (VCAP) provides outreach, counseling & referrals for OEF/OIF veterans & families.
Veterans Treatment & Diversion Court (`VetTrak') provides “restorative justice model,” linking (returning) vets with peer mentors, alternative sentencing & VA-based PTSD therapies.
Supportive Services for Veteran Families (`SSVF') provides at-risk vets with short-term financial assistance.
Emergency Contract Housing VA refers CH vets to our 8 beds reserved for CH participants. (housing first model)
Social Outreach Support (SOS) provides a schedule of interactive events for veterans and their families.
Pro Bono Legal Services are available for veteran participants with unresolved civil issues.
The South End Improvement Corporation (SEIC) was founded in 1978 to draw attention to the needs of the South End of the City of Albany, tap into government funding for housing and public improvements, and give residents a voice in decision-making affecting their neighborhood. Over 38 years later, SEIC remains a critical partner in the revitalization of Albany’s largest downtown district.
SEIC’s service area encompasses approximately 10% of the population of the City of Albany. Its mission is to improve housing conditions and the quality of life in the South End of the City of Albany, New York thereby preserving the residential character of its unique neighborhoods and encouraging city living. SEIC fulfills its mission by administering grants to meet the repair and rehabilitation needs of its low to moderate income homeowners.
Its Home Maintenance and Security (HMS) program affords homeowners up to $1,000 for emergency repairs to their homes. This program helps about 30 households per year. Its HOME (aka HARP IV) and AHC programs offers income eligible homeowners up to $40,000 per unit (1 to 4 units homes) to meet code; abate or encapsulate lead and address other environmental health hazards such as mold; make energy efficiency improvements; and provide accessibility modifications for seniors and disabled residents. These three programs bring more than one million dollars to the South End neighborhood, keeping people in their homes and preserving neighborhood housing stock.
SEIC partners with the Albany Community Development Agency (ACDA) to match its HARP program with ACDA resources, whenever possible, to meet residents’ housing rehabilitation needs. Since the inception of the HARP program, SEIC has rehabilitated 50 housing units and anticipates assisting another 14 upon completion of its HARP IV program.
SEIC supports several active neighborhood associations, including the South End Neighborhood Association, Delaware Avenue Neighborhood Association, Lincoln Park, Mt. Hope, and the Mansion Neighborhood Association, on events like National Night Out. SEIC also works in partnership with a number of grassroots community organizations, such as AVillage, Inc. and the Albany Green Coalition on initiatives to improve the quality of life in the South End, e.g. neighborhood clean-ups, the conversion of vacant lots to community gardens, and advocacy for added transit service.
For over 40 years, United Tenants of Albany (UTA) has provided housing services to the Albany community. UTA's housing hot-line responds annually to over 5,000 requests for information and housing counseling.
The homeless prevention program assists low-income households remain in their homes through a combination of housing counseling, court mediation, advocacy, emergency rent assistance ( in some situations) and follow-up case management. UTA also works with tenants whose landlords have lost their buildings to foreclosure or are in the foreclosure process, to insure that they are afforded the protections guaranteed under NYS statute.
United Tenants staff conduct workshops and trainings on such topics as finding apartments, landlord/tenant rights and responsibilities, eviction procedures and other relevant housing issues.
United Tenants of Albany works closely with the Albany Community Land Trust, the Affordable Housing Partnership, the Community Loan Fund, and Housing For All in an effort to increase and maintain the availability of affordable housing in the City of Albany.
The Albany County Rural Housing Alliance (ACRHA) is a HUD certified housing counseling agency offering education and individual assistance to anyone in need of housing or housing related services. The main office is located in Voorheesville and our satellite offices are located in Ravena and Cohoes.
The ACRHA service area that has been designated by the NYS Division of Housing & Community Renewal [DHCR] consists of the Towns of Berne, Knox, Westerlo, Rensselaerville, New Scotland, Coeymans, Green Island, the City of Cohoes and the Villages of Altamont, Voorheesville, and Ravena.

Weatherization assistance providers can assist eligible homeowners and owners of rental properties with measures to improve energy efficiency, including:
Weatherization Services may also include other energy-related improvements such as: water heater repair/replacement, lighting fixture replacement, venting systems, refrigerator replacement, and certain electrical service work.
Weatherization services are available to income-eligible (60% of State median income) individuals who may be either homeowners or renters living in a single-family home, a manufactured/mobile home, or an apartment.
